How To Make Your Own Oat Flour With $3 and 10 Minutes

To help you capitalize on these amazing health benefits and save some coin, I wanted to show you how you can make your own oat flour to use in baked goods instead of flour. It is super quick, easy and best of all, budget-friendly!
Benefits to using oat flour instead of regular flour:
Gluten free
High fiber
High protein
Low in saturated fat
Full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants
You can use oat flour to make treats such as pancakes, crepes, muffins, breads, cookies and more.
According to Hearthy.com, “when you use flour made of oats in place of all-purpose flour it is almost a 1-to-1 ratio exchange for most recipes.
For some recipes, you may want to add a bit more or a bit less to get the consistency that you are looking for. The texture is slightly different than regular flour, but the health benefits far exceed that of regular flour.”
Any type of old-fashioned whole grain oats will do, and on average you can find an 18 oz container for around $3. But my favorite oats are from Bob’s Red Mill. In just one serving, there are 7 grams of protein.
What you will need:
Air-tight container
Directions:
Fill your blender or food processor up to half-way with oats.
Blend until the oats have turned into a fine flour. This should take about 30 seconds to 1 minute depending on the power of your blender/food processor. The flour is done when it feels like powder with a very slight texture (but no large fleck of oats). Be careful not to over blend.
Store flour in air-tight container for up to 3 months.
Enjoy in place of regular flour in your favorite baked goods!
